Formation

Il fait des études de littérature anglaise à l'Université du Michigan, où il passe en 1972 une licence de pédagogie et de littérature anglaise,puis il tourne des spots publicitaires pendant cinq ans. Après avoir vendu son premier scénario "Bodyguard", il propose celui de "Continental divide" à Steven Spielberg et George Lucas qui lui commandent ceux de "L'Empire contre-attaque" et des "Aventuriers de l'arche perdue".

Autres activités

Lawrence kasdan a écrit des nouvelles et signé en 1995 sa première mise en scène de théâtre avec la comédie de John Patrick Shanley Four dosg & a bone.
