Formation
De 1932 à 1937, Ronald Reagan est reporter sportif pour des stations de radio. Puis il tente sa chance à Hollywood. Il est engagé par la Warner Bros en juin 1937.
Carrière au cinéma
Ronald Reagan a près de soixante films à son actif. Il n'a jamais tenu le premier rôle, sinon dans des séries B généralement anodines. Quelques films sortent tout de même du lot. C'est le cas de The Santa Fe trail (Michael Curtiz, 1940). Mais le rôle qui le révèle est celui qu'il interprète dans le courageux film sur le Ku Klux Klan, Storm warning (Stuart Heisler, 1950). Puis sa carrière s'englue dans la routine du film d'aventure et du western. Avec quelques exceptions de ci de là : il est, par exemple, admirable dans Tennesse's partner (Allan Dwan, 1954). Dans son dernier film, The killers (Don Siegel, 1964), il joue pour la première fois une crapule. Puis il se tourne vers la politique.
Autres activités
Dès 1964, Ronald Reagan entre en politique. Il est élu gouverneur de Californie en 1966 et devient le 40e président des Etats-Unis en 1980.
