Formation
Lauréate d'un concours de beauté à l'âge de treize ans, Diana Dors s'inscrit à l'Académie d'art dramatique de Londres où elle remporte la coupe Alexander Korda. Remarquée par le producteur Sydney Box, elle signe un contrat de dix ans avec la Rank.
Carrière au cinéma
Surnommée la Marilyn Monroe anglaise, tandis qu'elle se désigne elle-même comme un sex-symbol, Diana Dors dévoile sa plastique avantageuse dans de nombreux films des années 1950-1960. Elle apparaît pour la première fois sur les écrans en 1946 dans Shop at Sly Corner (George King). Elle obtient quelques rôles consistants (The Weak and the wicked, J. Lee Thompson, 1953 ; L'Enfant à la licorne, Carol Reed, 1954; The Unholy wife (John Farrow, 1957) qui lui permettent d'introduire dans son jeu quelques nuances dont la critique ne la croyait pas capable. Après un bref passage par Hollywood, où elle ne réussit pas à percer, elle revient en Angleterre où elle trouve à s'employer dans des films de bonne facture : Deep end (Jerzy Skolimowski, 1970), Le Joueur de flûte (Jacques Demy, 1971), Steaming (Joseph Losey, 1983).
