Carrière au cinéma
James-Robertson Justice a exercé de nombreux métiers avant de devenir acteur et ce n'est qu'à 38 ans qu'il tourne son premier film, Nine men de Harry Watt en 1943. Sa stature et sa verve en font un acteur charismatique qui aura à sa mort accumulé une centaine de films. En 1948, ce grand amateur de whisky figure en bonne place au générique du film de Alexander Mackendrick Whisky à gogo. Comme les multiples métiers qu'il a exercés avant, ses prestations à l'écran sont multiples et variées. Ancien aventurier, il tourne dans Christophe Colomb de David Mac Donald en 1949, La flibustière des Antilles de Henry Hathaway en 1951 ou encore Mody Dick en 1956 de John Huston. On le retrouve également en 1957 dans Order to kill de Anthony Asquith ou dans Les canons de Navaronne de John Lee Thompson en 1961.
Autres activités
Avant d'être acteur, James-Robertson Justice fut journaliste, avant de devenir fermier au Canada puis, chercheur d'or, instituteur, bûcheron ou encore coureur automobile.
